About CTS
How We Got Here
In 2007, our CEO Matt Roberts started working for Bluebird community partnership. Back then we had two minibuses & one wheelchair-accessible car. Some years later, our late chair John Griffiths, was the driving force behind forming Crawley Community Transport, which took on the running of the old Crawley Dial – A – Ride Service.
Together, in 2013, we formed the Horsham District community transport. In the interim years, we took on the community buses in East Grinstead, Henfield, Hurst & Hassocks.
In 2016, the 3 founding charities merged to create CT Sussex. Soon afterwards, our friends at Worthing Dial A Ride became members of CT Sussex and fully merged with us in 2020. We now operate a fleet of around 50 vehicles with over 100 colleagues and volunteers, providing and supporting community transport across West Sussex.
To further that aim, we opened our newest depot in Chichester in January 2023.
During the COVID 19 pandemic we had to switch our operations to adjust to everyone’s changing circumstances. We quickly became aware of an increasing number of people who might be described as newly isolated. We started to collect people’s shopping for their prescriptions and taking people to vital medical appointments. Since emerging from the pandemic, many people have lost the confidence to venture out or still feel uncomfortable using public transport.
Although our charitable delivery is the provision and facilitation of accessible transport, our main objective is the reduction of social isolation and loneliness. In fact, our stated aim is to create an integrated community transport network across our country so that no one is disadvantaged by not having access to safe, affordable, accessible transport.

COLLABORATIONS AND SUPPORT FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY TRANSPORT
Working Together
At CT Sussex, we value collaboration and support for other local community transport organisations.
We are committed to helping them in any way we can, fostering a network that benefits the entire community.
OUR CHARITABLE OBJECTIVES
Our Charities
Our charities aim to assist local individuals who face challenges in accessing public transport. Whether due to age, disability, or inadequate public services in their area, we strive to provide transportation solutions that address their needs.
DIAL-A-RIDE SERVICE
Enhancing Accessibility and Preventing Social Isolation
GROUP HIRE AND SELF-DRIVE BOOKINGS
Enabling Community Outings
With our group hire and self-drive bookings, we support local community groups, charities, and not-for-profit organisations in arranging day trips for their members.
By removing the burden of minibus ownership and maintenance, we enable these groups to allocate their resources to more critical areas. We have found that what most groups truly require is transportation, and that is precisely what we provide.
Community Contracts
Ensuring Safe Transportation for Children with Special Needs
Through our community contracts, we ensure that children with special needs can safely commute to and from school using our secure, wheelchair-accessible minibuses.
This service not only provides a familiar environment for the children but also offers peace of mind to parents, knowing that their child is in the care of trained professionals.
Travel Buddy Service
Facilitating Local Travel Support
In Crawley, Horsham, Mid Sussex, and Chichester, we operate our Travel Buddy service, which aims to provide comprehensive local travel support.
Our ambition is to expand this service to cover the entire Sussex region.

Areas we cover
Locations all over Sussex
As a group of charities, we cover multiple districts in Sussex. This includes the Horsham District, Crawley, Adur, and Worthing, as well as the Mid Sussex District, which encompasses Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, East Grinstead, and the surrounding villages.
In 2023, we opened a new depot in Chichester, allowing us to extend our services to the Arun and Chichester districts.
We work closely with local partners and groups to provide transportation coverage across as much of West Sussex as possible.
